Here's our honest take on the best spots near both Spinwave locations.
This list is based on court quality, availability, and the overall playing experience. We've played at all of them.
Near Massapequa (5650b Merrick Road)
1. John J Burns Park — Massapequa

Burns Park is the anchor of the Massapequa pickleball scene. Nine permanent courts with permanent nets, well-maintained surface, and a consistent crowd of players throughout the day. The public access means no membership fees, and the court count means you're rarely waiting long. This is the home base for a lot of local players.
*Best time to go:* Weekday mornings for a more relaxed game. Weekend afternoons get competitive.
2. Anthony Casamento Park — Massapequa
8 courts | Permanent lines | Public | Permanent nets
Another strong public option right in Massapequa. Eight courts, permanent nets, and a well-organized open play community. The courts are slightly newer than Burns Park and the surface is in excellent condition.
3. Michael J Tully Park — New Hyde Park
14 courts | Permanent lines | Members | Permanent nets
The largest dedicated pickleball facility in Nassau County. Fourteen courts, permanent nets, and a well-run membership program. If you're playing frequently enough to justify a membership, Tully Park is worth it. The court quality and organization are the best in the area.

4. Merrick Town Park — Merrick

A solid public option just east of Massapequa. Six courts with permanent lines, though the nets are portable — which means availability can vary. The park itself is well-maintained and the pickleball community here is welcoming to new players.
5. Jones Beach State Park — Wantagh
10 courts | Permanent lines | Fee | Permanent nets
Jones Beach has become a serious pickleball destination. Ten permanent courts with a small fee for access. The setting is hard to beat — playing with the ocean nearby on a clear day is genuinely great. The courts are well-maintained and the competition level is solid.
Near Great Neck (138a Middle Neck Road)
1. Syosset-Woodbury Community Park — Woodbury

The best free public option near the Great Neck store. Six permanent courts, permanent nets, and a strong regular player community. The courts are well-maintained and the park itself is excellent.
2. SPORTIME Port Washington / JMTA — Port Washington
12 courts | Permanent lines | Fee | Permanent nets
Twelve courts, premium surface, and a well-organized fee-based facility. SPORTIME runs a tight operation — courts are well-maintained, organized open play sessions are available, and the overall experience is polished. Worth the fee if you want a premium playing environment.
3. The Pickle Club — Jericho
3 courts | Permanent lines | Fee | Permanent nets
A dedicated pickleball facility with a strong community feel. Three courts means it's more intimate than the larger parks, but the quality of play and the organized sessions make it worth the membership. Great for players who want a consistent group to play with.
4. Gold Coast Pickleball Club — Glen Cove
6 courts | Permanent lines | Members | Permanent nets
A members-only club with excellent courts and a serious playing community. If you're a 3.5+ player looking for competitive open play near Great Neck, this is the spot.
5. Commonpoint Queens — Alley Pond (Queens, near the Nassau border)
10 courts | Permanent lines | Public | Permanent nets
Technically in Queens but close enough to the Great Neck store to be worth mentioning. Ten public courts with permanent nets and one of the most active pickleball communities in the area. The competition level here is high.
